Athena-Tek is Network Focused:

Athena-Tek designs and builds Edge Devices and integrates private 5G networks to solve Warfighter Training and Test & Evaluation Use Cases, including the Army’s Training Edge Device (TED).

Athena-Tek has supported the Army’s 5G force-on-force training soldier touch point (STPs) efforts for the last two years at Home Stations, Combat Training Centers, and Test & Evaluation Centers.

Athena-Tek supports DoD’s Next G developmental effort to enhance ground combat training with Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality with Mobile Edge Computing and Network Slicing.

Athena-Tek has supported the development of the expeditionary Live Virtual Constructive Command Center (XLCC), used by the Operational Test Command, for seven years.

Athena-Tek developed an ATAK-based Exercise Controller that can be used to characterize 5G Networks and manage Mesh networks during Training, Test & Evaluation use cases, including capturing panic button information for Land Navigation Training and Biometrics from a wearable device in case of soldier injury.

Athena-Tek has integrated a small form factor 5G SA/NSA network to test Training, Test & Evaluation use cases (“Zeus”).

Athena-Tek has developed a technology roadmap for the STAAR Program’s developmental efforts.

Our ZEUS platform contains the Radio Access Network (RAN) and Core of the network. We use a software stack based on open interface standards (O-RAN, 3GPP) so we can give the customer the flexibility of using their own gNodeB or our recommendation. Additionally, the software stack is easily scalable to support a wide array of customer use cases (i.e. number of users and network coverage). The ZEUS provides a true 5G Standalone (SA) network radiating on the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band for license free spectrum usage. A 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) uses 5G radio FDD and TDD frequencies to provide wireless connectivity to devices to deliver gigabit throughput and low latency for subscribers.

GPS RTK Base Station

Athena-Tek enables GPS RTK support in cellular and mesh networks. We provide an open-source GPS RTK Base Station that can cast RTCM corrections using an NTRIP server/client setup on any network. Our design for creating a GNSS Reference Station is Advantageous over a Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solution because it provides full control of the base station in the network and the base station itself. Additionally, the form factor of the base station can be easily modified depending on use case, it can be executed on a Raspberry Pi4.

Our ARES III edge device supports GPS RTK and has achieved centimeter GPS accuracy. The GPS RTK corrections can be cast to the ARES III over its IP-based interfaces; 5G Sub-6GHz, MANET/Mesh, Wi-Fi, and wired Ethernet.

Network Modeling & Simulation

Athena-Tek uses Radio Frequency Modeling and Simulation software to plan  network deployments. With over a decade of RF experience, Athena-Tek ensures that network deployments meet stakeholder requirements while adhering to FCC regulations.

Our Modeling and Simulation service can provide rapid deployments with higher confidence, Coverage and Capacity Analysis with what-if scenarios, and Point-to-Point Wireless Backhaul Capacity analysis.

Electronic Warfare

With the rollout of 5G networks, potential vulnerabilities and security concerns need to be addressed. 5G security concerns can range from attacks on user equipment to attacks on the 5G infrastructure. Athena-Tek leverages open-source testing tools to create jamming signals and spectrum analyzers using a Software Defined Radio. On the network side, Athena-Tek leverages the ARES network performance capture capability to be able to sense the network. Both capabilities are used within Athena-Tek’s lab for the Research and Development of the next
generation ARES units.

Athena-Tek is Solutions Driven

Athena-Tek designs Core, Access, Edge, and Distribution network subsystems for Training and Test and Evaluation use cases leveraging Modeling and Simulation tools.

Athena-Tek integrates multi-vendor subsystems into its edge devices to support the best-in-class training solutions.

Athena-Tek has demonstrated Training, Test & Evaluation use case solutions at the National Training Center, Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, Cold Regions Test Center, and Orlando.
