About Us

Athena Technologies, LLC is an Orlando-based, 8(a) certified network operations firm with clients ranging from the federal to commercial sectors.

Who We Are

Athena Technologies, LLC has over 25 years of Communications Systems Integration experience in the Federal and Commercial industries, from oil and banking sectors to large and medium enterprises. Our build-to-print experience with Government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) products has supported live training systems fielding CONUS and OCONUS.

Our roots go back to the initial cellular deployments in Latin America with our founding members having participated in network deployments from the original analog AMPS systems.  The cellular industry evolved to 2G TDMA/CDMA/GSM and has since merged into 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE). Athena-Tek’s executive staff are in the growing process of supporting cellular network upgrades and the deployment and operation of satellite, wireless broadband, paging, trunking, and fiber networks.

Beginning in 2011, Athena-Tek supported the pursuit of the US Army’s largest Combat Training Center Instrumentation Systems (CTC-IS) Request for Proposal (RFP) project that called for the following networks: 4G LTE video, secured P25 voice, Life Fire Communications System (LFCS) and Range Data Management System (RDMS) data. Our team conducted an extensive requirements analysis, industry survey, and supported modeling and simulation efforts to select the best communications systems that met the CTC-IS RCS requirements.

Part of our support included a comprehensive radio frequency spectrum study that analyzed the Army Spectrum Management Office, FCC, and NTIA guidelines to provide the best frequency terrain to match the available technologies. Our findings were a combination of Department of Defense (DoD), Public Safety, and commercial frequencies that resulted in a Player Unit (PU) software and hardware redesign to meet the desired requirements.  The RDMS player unit was fitted with the wireless personal area network (PAN) to support future interfaces and weapons systems.

In 2013, Athena-Tek supported the Army Mobile Instrumented Training System (AMITS) project that included an abridged version of the CTC-IS project and different radio frequency spectrum guidelines. The additional capability we offered in this effort was to support the system demonstration using the Home Station Instrumentation Training System (HITS).  Towards that end, Athena-Tek built the HITS system which now resides in the Army’s Live Training Community’s Portal.

Athena-Tek is currently leveraging Government off-the-shelf (GOTS) and Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products to produce more innovative solutions. We are looking to the future as the evolution of next-generation technology branches out into the augmented and virtual domains offering many possible applications to support and develop training systems to offer more realistic situations.
